Tom sat up quickly in his bed in the dimly lit room. He felt a sharp pain run through his chest, and a vision of Jericho rushed through his head. He grabbed his chest. It was the exact same spot where Harold had just stabbed Jericho. Tom surveyed the scene and realized he was in one of the rooms in the back of the church. He’d been staying there and overseeing its reconstruction since the fire.

“Oh my God…Jericho,”Tom said. “What’s going on?” Susie’s soft hand ran up Tom’s back. “Is everything ok, honey?”

“Something’s up with Caine.”Tom grabbed her hand. “I’ve never felt this before.”

“Jericho’s a badass.” Susie sat up next to Tom. “He can take care of himself.”

“This is different, though.” Tom pulled the covers off and swung his feet out to the floor. “I think the big guy’s in trouble.”

“Ok,Tom.Well, let’s go find him.”

“Wait.” Tom put his finger over his lips. “You sense that? Somethings not right.”

BA startled the couple as he stood up out of a chair in the dark corner of the room. “That’s not the only problem we have.”

Tom frowned and focused on BA. “How long have you been sitting there, Angel?”

“Not long,” BA responded. “I didn’t see any of your…stuff. But the demon walks the earth again.”

“Who?” Susie sat up and covered her naked breasts with the blanket “Hang—”

Tom quickly covered her mouth. “We don’t say his name, it’s cursed.You can be struck down by lightning, and he will find out where we are if we say his name.”

“Well, he’s here on Earth and he didn’t have the book on his person.” BA rapped his fingers on the wall. “But he did have the Ring of Light. He and Comet fought Cromwell and me. That can mean only one thing.”

“Kente Jr,”Tom said.

“Exactly,” BA replied. “He’s either being held captive or worse, dead. Either way, this will not sit well with Cromwell.”

Tom got up and put on his pants. He kissed Susie on the forehead and handed her, her shirt. He put on the rest of his clothes and made sure his weapons were in his inner pockets. He then pulled a trunk from underneath his bed and opened it. He ran his hands across his twin bamboo sticks with metal knives attached at the ends. He hadn’t planned on using them until the war started, but he knew it was near. So, he only grabbed a bottle of Detox and holy water. He put them in his pockets.

“We need to gather our forces.” Tom stood. “But first, we need to find out what’s going on with Jericho. I fear the worst.”
